Frequently Asked Questions

What is a “lineage pass”?

Lineage Passes are those ID Passes that are given to defined members in the property owner’s family lineage. Since not everyone in the lineage has their name on the deed, as owners do, the new term replaces the old term “owner pass” and helps clarify who has amenity and ski privileges that come with the lineage pass.

How many lineage passes do I get?

You get a maximum of 12 altogether and the model is more flexible. You decide how to allocate your lineage passes up to a maximum of 12. Lineage passes begin with the deeded property owner and spouse. They can then add anyone among their parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to make up the 12 passes. Any lineage passes you haven’t assigned will be given to you as guest passes.

How many guest passes do I get?

You determine the number of guest passes that you get. From your 12 passes, deduct the number of those you’ve assigned as lineage passes, and the remainder can be used a guest passes. For example, if you’ve assigned 7 lineage passes, you get 5 guest passes. If you’ve assigned 10 lineage passes, you get 2 guest passes.

Can I still buy extra day passes like I used to, if I need more passes for my family?

Yes, the rule has not changed. The fee has increased to $7 per person, per day.

I was grandfathered into the pre-2004 pass rules, am I still?

Yes, until April 30, 2025. After that date, all members will be under the same set of pass policy rules. Under the updated grandfather motion on Oct. 25, 2021, and the new rules, any pass above the limit of 12 that is surrendered will be revoked from the count. Also, upon sale/transfer or death of deeded property owner, all grandfathering will terminate on that date.

Why do I need to bring in my Deed with the Lineage Pass Assignment form?

In 2005, many Deed verifications were lost in a fire and over the years some property owners have changed their Deeds. Please submit the Lineage Pass Assignment form along with your Deed so the deeded owner can be verified. Only the deeded owner can allocate passes.

My spouse and I are older and don’t ski anymore, and never use the amenities without one of our other lineage pass holders. Do we have to “waste” lineage passes on us?

For at least one of you, yes, one deeded owner must have a lineage pass to document voting rights and to establish the lineage line. If either owner attends other amenities by themselves, they will need a lineage pass.

I own more than one house or non-combined lots, how does that work?

Owners in good standings receive 12 passes. If you own an additional non combined lot, you may extend your lineage or guest passes to the second lot. Note that no member of the lineage can have more than one ID Pass. Combined lots do not receive additional passes.

I own my house together with my sister, how does that work?

Every property gets 12 passes. If you and your sister are both deeded owners, you can allocate lineage passes amongst both of your lineages however you see fit. So, if you have 5 lineage and your sister has 6, you can get up to 11 lineage passes (and you would get one guest pass in that example). You can no longer “buy” another set of lineage passes on the same property.

My home or lot is owned by an LLC. How many passes do I get?

Your lot receives 12 passes. An LLC must designate one human owner or beneficiary of the LLC, and then for all intents and purposes of the pass policy, that designated human owner is treated as the “anchor” to assign lineage passes.

If I rent my home short term, how many passes do my renters get?

Rentals must follow the rental policy rules and your renters do not get any passes for free, but may purchase amenity passes for $7/day/pp. Your lineage passes are not deactivated during the term of your rental (same model as has always been for ski).

If I rent my home short term and my renters don’t want to use the amenities, or don’t want to use the amenities every day, must they purchase at least one amenity pass to use the compactor?

No. Short term renters will have one compactor pass for access to the compactor. Additional fees may apply (like extra bags or special openings).

If I rent my house long-term, how many passes do my renters get?

These rules haven’t changed, except insofar as the maximum limitation inherent in the Lackawaxen ordinance for maximum occupancy and lessee(s) are required to provide three non-family letters of recommendation. Consistent with the new occupancy rules, your renters get up to 12 renter amenity passes (no charge) but limited to the (Number of bedrooms X 2) + 4), so for a 3-bedroom house they would get a maximum of 10. Owners lineage passes are turned off during the term of your long-term rental.

Can renters purchase additional amenity passes if they have more than the 12-pass maximum?

No
